Pink Jeep V1
My daughter found herself the owner of a new Sopbost 24v Ride On. The ride on has good bones because it has:
- EVA Tires
- More grip
- Quieter
- 10 amp hour battery
- Very long run time. It outlasts our desire to ride
- 24v
- Plenty of torque for the grass
However it has some downsides:
- Aggressive start/stop
- Enough to be a legitimate safety risk
- Steering has no feedback
- You need to dance around to keep the vehicle straight
- Speed settings are somewhat bogus
- Keeping up with low speed is tough on hard surfaces
- The low speed setting is still a lot for a learning driver
- Turning radius is large
- This made it hard to use in my yars
- The pedal is binary
- No way to “ease” through gates and openings, or tricky terrain.
I did some research and couldn’t find any prebuilt products to address all 5 concerns, so I decided to make a learning experience out of it and add a microcontroller to her “jeep”.
More to come….
